Lisa Kleypas gets the Hallmark treatment

Speaking of movie adaptations of underwhelming books by otherwise excellent authors, apparently there's going to be a TV movie adaptation of Lisa Kleypas's novella Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor, to air on ABC this December. I'm torn: half of me is sad that this book—one of Ms. Kleypas's few missteps*—will be getting so much attention, but the other half is pleased that it's not a book I actually care about, so at least I won't be disappointed when/if it turns out to be terrible.
*PLOT SPOILER: The hero has a perfectly nice girlfriend for, like, three-quarters of the book, but callously dumps her in favor of the heroine, Maggie. (Maggie, naturally, is an angelic widow who's all sweet and maternal and stuff—the perfect woman to help him care for his suddenly orphaned niece.) NO THANK YOU. The dude is basically an ass, and I don't find that romantic, no matter how sappy the Christmas setting.
