Sun Tzu was an ancient Chinese military expert. Writing his bio is somewhat complicated by the fact that scholars aren't certain if:
A. He was a real historical figure, and if so, what his real name was
B. When he lived (it was either during the sixth century BC during what was called the Spring and Autumn Period, or 150 or so years later during the Warring States Period)
C. Which sections of his famous military strategy text The Art of War were written by him, and which sections might have been added in later by other authors.
But that said,
The Art of War is still a classic—and one of our
Featured Books—and you should totally read it. Despite its grim subject matter, it's short, entertaining, and
highly quotable.
