While I have enjoyed every Julia Quinn book currently in print, I do have some ongoing problems with her writing: she's nowhere near as well researched as, say,
Lisa Kleypas, and I find many of her jokes and dialogue to be distractingly contemporary. But if you're looking for a reasonably well-written historical romance (and don't really care about the occasional glaring anachronism) Julia Quinn's books are consistently entertaining.
Note: I probably wouldn't be so hard on Ms. Quinn if the quote on her most recent book cover didn't describe her as being the next best thing to
Jane Austen. Um... no.
Honestly, people--you just can't go around tossing that phrase everywhere.
Note #2: Always, always read the dedications in Julia Quinn's books. Particularly her older ones.
