Tanuja Desai Hidier is in a band, has directed a short film, written some short stories, and is the author of the novel
Born Confused. All of her artistic endeavors apparently deal with the theme of Indian/American cultural adaptation. While Hidier’s subject matter may seem too specialized for some readers, she does a beautiful job of linking feelings of teenage alienation with feelings of cultural alienation.
