George MacDonald

Scottish novelist, poet, and clergyman George MacDonald is the author of a pair of pleasantly Victorian children's classics: The Princess and the Goblin and The Princess and Curdie. While these gentle fantasies seem to have fallen hopelessly out of fashion in favor of Lemony Snicket-style faux-gloom and J.K. Rowling-style excitement, I imagine that one day they'll turn up again.
