NPR recently posted a complete list of the 25 finalists for the 2019 National Book Awards, and once again, I have not read a single one of them. This is always embarrassing for a book critic to realize, so I'm going to pick up a copy of David Treuer's The Heartbeat of Wounded Knee: Native America from 1890 to the Present. It will be horrifically depressing, but at least Native History is a subject I'm interested in.
