Such a letdown

Damn: I absolutely loved Daniel O'Malley's The Rook, but if this scathing review is to be believed, the new television adaptation has removed nearly all of what I enjoyed about the book and replaced it with Olivia Munn (an actress I don't care for) playing a newly-expanded character (someone called Monica Reed?) that I can't recall.
