Unlooked-for treasures

There's a fascinating article on NPR about a lost book: the Libro de los Epítomes, a catalog of the massive library of Hernando Colón, Christopher Columbus's illegitimate son. It's a massive book—2000 pages—designed to help a user find books in Colon's collection. Colon hired researchers to read every book in his library, and condense their contents down to a short summary for the Libro de los Epítomes. The catalog went missing after Hernando's death in 1539, but turned up three weeks ago in a library in Copenhagen, where it had been mis-filed with an assortment of Icelandic texts.
