Well, one question has been answered: according to Vice, the inexplicable phenomenon of hundreds of vintage Garfield-shaped phones popping up on the beaches of Brittany has finally been explained. (To make a long story short: a shipping container full of the phones was lost in the area in the 1980s, and high tide has been washing them up ever since.) The mystery of Garfield's continuing success and popularity, however, remains unsolved.
