Grim but necessary

In important albeit deeply depressing news, Laurie Halse Anderson recently wrote an essay for Time entitled "I’ve Talked With Teenage Boys About Sexual Assault for 20 Years. This Is What They Still Don’t Know". I'd like to think that Anderson is at least a little wrong—that today's teenagers actually do have a better grasp of consent than previous generations—but her basic point stands: sex ed for boys needs to expand from "don't get an STD/don't get a girl pregnant" to a clear and comprehensive understanding of healthy sexuality.
