Intense

I've been reading about the drama surrounding the upcoming Bollywood movie Padmavati, which is loosely based upon a (possibly fictional) queen who appears in a 16th century epic poem by Malik Muhammad Jayasi. According to Deadline, an extremist caste group has threatened to burn down any British cinema that screens the film, the cast and crew have faced threats, and—most disturbingly of all—last week a body was found hanged near the site of one of the film’s shooting locations. I'm still unclear on why people are so angry (in the Deadline article, "some groups [object to] offensive sexual content while others claim historical inaccuracies"), but the movie hasn't even been screened publicly yet. You'd think they'd wait for something a little more pearl-clutching than what's depicted in the trailer, which is intensely glamorous but light on plot.
