Absolutely ridiculous

We might have been consistently underwhelmed by V.E. Schwab's Shades of Magic series, but nobody deserves this kind of nonsense: according to the Guardian, Schwab's Russian publishers went ahead and cut out a homosexual storyline without even informing the author, much less getting her permission. While apparently it's not uncommon for books containing gay characters to be sold shrink-wrapped and given an 18+ rating in Russia, this is the first time I've heard of a publisher secretly chopping out the scenes in question. The publishing company should be embarrassed.
