Anne of Green Gables, Christopher Nolan-style

It seems The New Yorker is not a fan of the recent Canadian adaptation of Anne of Green Gables, which they describe as being utterly (and inaccurately) grim. The author loses me in her final paragraph, which praises Patricia Rozema's adaptation of Jane Austen's Mansfield Park (which: uggggh), but she's plenty convincing everywhere else.
