Visual appeal

There's a great article over on Buzzfeed by Anne Helen Petersen called "The Radical Feminist Aesthetic Of The Handmaid’s Tale". (The article claims to be spoiler-free, but it does share quite a bit about the novel, so bear that in mind if you want to watch the TV series completely unspoiled.) Petersen talks about the visual way the filmmakers illustrate the characters' world—the isolation, the tunnel vision, the claustrophobia. None of it is enough to convince me watch the show (because: horrifying), but it certainly makes the direction and cinematography sound impressive.
