According to io9, Lord of the Rings writers Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh, and Philippa Boyens are co-writing and producing a movie adaptation of Philip Reeve’s YA steampunk saga Mortal Engines. (Unlike LoTR, Jackson will not direct this film.) I thought the craze for post-apocalyptic YA movies was dying down, but who knows: maybe Jackson and his crew have a big enough fan base to breathe new life into the genre.
