Phonies abound

According to Veranda magazine, the Cornish Center for Cartoon Studies is "giving admirers of J.D. Salinger the chance to live and work in the author's former home in rural New Hampshire." The winner of the Cornish CCS Residency Fellowship will be given a small stipend, a list of chores (including shoveling the walkway), and the opportunity to live in the studio apartment above the home's garage, where Salinger used to hang out. The program is "designed to create a focused and inspiring environment for cartoonists in order to create exceptional work". And while Salinger was apparently a total sleaze, the grounds of this property do look very inspiring.
