Sorry, Meg.

In news that will undoubtedly traumatize Wordcandy staff member Megan (who hates the book with a fiery passion), the Guardian is reporting that there will be a new film adaptation of Richard Adams’s 1972 novel Watership Down. The movie will be a co-production of the BBC and Netflix, and features a large and impressive cast: John Boyega, James McAvoy, Ben Kingsley, Gemma Arterton, Olivia Colman, Anne-Marie Duff, and Nicholas Hoult. I have no idea what attracted these actors to this story (have they actually read Watership Down? Or are they just hoping for Jungle Book-style money?), but maybe this new adaptation will do something to address the original novel's innate creepiness.
