And speaking of dystopian futures with creepy digital mind-control, they're making an American live-action version of Masamune Shirow's classic manga/anime Ghost in the Shell! According to Variety, the film will star Scarlett Johansson and be directed by Snow White and the Huntsman helmsman Rupert Sanders. I have my doubts about whether or not this will work—behold the years-long saga of the American Akira remake—but I'm always pleased to see a female-oriented action movie. (Although I'd be even more pleased to see one with a female director, too.)
