The online magazine Aeon recently took a fascinating (and legit horrifying) look at the long and troubling history of the Ladies’ Home Journal’s trademarked ‘Can This Marriage Be Saved?' column. It's totally worth reading, particularly if you have an interest in the historical role of the "Seven Sisters", the group of major women's magazines that spent much of the 20th century as major tastemakers for married, middle-class women.
