According to NPR, LeVar Burton, host of the beloved but defunct PBS show Reading Rainbow, is trying to crowdfund a web-based version of the series. The campaign is going swimmingly (he has already raised nearly twice the required amount), but that may be due to another set of Burton's fans: Trekkies. Burton is offering high-rolling Star Trek: The Next Generation geeks a special reward to contribute to his campaign: for $10,000, donors will enjoy a private dinner with Burton, during which they'll be allowed to wear the actual VISOR worn by his character on the show. Hopefully, the lucky winners will be more suave than, y'know, Troy.
