The Addams family to ride again?

According to Variety, MGM is looking to produce an animated film based on the long-running Addams Family cartoons created by Charles Addams. The author of Corpse Bride, Pamela Pettler, has signed on to write the screenplay. There had been rumors of a Tim Burton-directed stop-motion version of the same material (to which I say: of course), but apparently that idea has been shelved.
