A happy ending

2013-08-22-a-happy-ending
A crime against literature has been solved: the bronze Lorax statue stolen from Dr. Seuss's house in March of 2012 has been found. Last week, a 22-year-old man walked into a police station in Montana and offered information about several crimes, including the theft of the statue, which was described as a (totally not amusing) "21st birthday prank". The 2-foot tall, 300-pound statue was dragged off the property, but the thieves soon abandoned it, tossing it into a nearby canyon. Happily, the statue is a little dinged but otherwise fine, and has been returned to the home of Audrey Geisel (Seuss's widow), where it has been moved to a hopefully safer place.
