The many hats of Dr. Seuss

Sadly, this touring exhibit of the many fabulous hats owned by Theodor "Dr. Seuss" Geisel isn't coming anywhere near where I live, but it might be worth taking a vacation to see. According to this article in Collectors Weekly, Dr. Seuss started collecting hats in the 1930s, eventually owning hundreds of them and featuring several of his more eye-catching specimens in his paintings. (There's a particularly glorious purple and green feathered one that would justify the cost of any admission fees by itself.) Dr. Seuss's hat collection also inspired a book—The 500 Hats of Bartholomew Cubbins—now celebrating its 75th anniversary.
