There are big names behind the Vampire Academy movie

The upcoming movie adaptation of Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy has some serious YA street cred: according to Deadline, Daniel Waters, writer of the iconic black comedy Heathers, has written the script for the first movie, and his brother, Mean Girls director Mark Waters, will direct it. I'm a little concerned by the producers' description of the story (the line "This is as much Mean Girls as The Hunger Games" makes me picture an unholy hybrid of the two), but it certainly makes me feel better about the movie, which I had my doubts about.
