Hopefully there aren't many power outages.

MySanAntonio.com has an article up about Bexar County's attempt to create the nation's first book-free countywide library system. The goal is to have a library designed for the digital age (rather than adapted to it), which apparently means A) an interior resembling an Apple Store, B) an exterior resembling a minimum-security prison, and C) no "legacy of paper". In addition to at least 10,000 ebook titles, the first library in the system, opening this fall, will have 100 ebook readers available to check out. Considering the speed at which technology evolves, this type of all-in investment strikes me as incredibly stupid, but no one ever asks my opinion.

The outside looks more like a IRS or post office, except even more boring.

And, judging by their artist's sketch of the interior, they have NO interest in serving the needs of their older clients. That is not a comfortable set-up for an elderly person, even if they were interested in using an e-reader (which many of them probably wouldn't be).
