Helen Gurley Brown: 1922-2012

2012
Helen Gurley Brown, the longtime editor of Cosmopolitan magazine, died yesterday at the age of 90. Brown was a polarizing figure, but she will be remembered as the author of the 1962 advice book Sex and the Single Girl, which blithely assured its readers that "You may marry or you may not.... In today's world, that is no longer the big question for women."
Here's hoping Brown's most famous quip—"Good girls go to heaven. Bad girls go everywhere."—worked out in her favor.
