Michael Buckley is the author of the
Sisters Grimm books, a highly enjoyable series that has some striking similarities to
Bill Willingham’s
Fables series. So if you’re not old enough for Willingham’s comic books--which are published under the Vertigo line of adult comics for some very good reasons--then Buckley’s smart, funny books about a community of fairytale characters trying to make a life for themselves in modern-day America and the human family who is duty-bound to keep an eye on them are a wonderful alternative.
Aftertaste:Buckley’s website informs me that he was involved with the creation of Nickelodeon’s
Rugrats, which is a VERY BIG STRIKE against him. I hate that show.
Availability:Everywhere.
Other Recommendations:If you're over 15, try
Bill Willingham’s
Fables or anything by
Robin McKinley.
If you're under 15, try
Gail Carson Levine.

These are some of the prettiest books I've bought all year. Looooove the cover art, the bindings, everything. Plus they're funny!
