As you could probably guess from the titles of her stories (
Savannah Blues, Little Bitty Lies, and
Hissy Fit), Mary Kay Andrews is a very Southern writer. Her intelligent, entertaining books are a mixture of romance, mystery, and hardcore antique-hunting, all served with a healthy dollop of Southern charm that manages to avoid Scarlet O’Hara-style affectations.
Note #1: Mary Kay Andrews also writes mysteries under her real name,
Kathy Hogan Trocheck. While I’ve never read one of these, the owner of my local mystery bookshop recommends them.
Note #2: Ms. Andrews used to be a journalist, and once covered the case that served as the inspiration for the book
Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil.
