So-Hee Park is the author of the entertaining Korean manhwa Goong. Goong is an alternate universe-story about an ordinary high school girl forced to marry into the Korean royal family. (In Park’s world, Japan never invaded Korea, and therefore the Korean royals are still alive and well.) Park’s series would be remarkable for her artwork alone--she has a gift for memorable character design--but her storytelling capabilities are just as impressive. Alternately romantic and ridiculous, Goong is a story that will appeal equally to fans of shojo manga and tales of backstabbing political intrigue.
(Edited in response to reader comments: We're not sure why there's so little Goong fanfiction, either. But we will fully read it--no matter how terrible it is--should any turn up.)
Aftertaste:
Although I think it's beautiful now, Park's artwork took me a while to get used to. Her characters have faces that are vaguely reminiscent of Victorian dolls, and when they go super-deformed they are wicked ugly.

\r\nabt the mangaka the artwork (esp on guys) is somewhat unstable in the very beginning but will take an upturn as the story goes on. i actually like the artwork for shin since volume 6. somewhat good looking. the female characters r all quite nice since the start. so no problem with tat.
