Kate Beaton

Kate Beaton is the author of Hark! A Vagrant, one of our favorite web comics (also one of our Featured Books). Hark! A Vagrant is a testament to the kind of comic strips that can only be found on the internet—Ms. Beaton can be hugely funny, but her strip features an extremely specific sense of humor that would probably have trouble finding a home in a major print publication. So we're grateful to her for writing deliciously mean jokes about Charles Dickens' ideal woman and the origins of the Kennedy political dynasty... and we're grateful to the internet for existing.
