Obert Skye

Obert Skye is the author of the very entertaining Harry Potter-esque YA fantasy Leven Thumps and the Gateway to Foo. I wouldn't recommend going to great lengths to hunt this book down, but if you're in the mood for a Potter-ish adventure and it's right there in front of you, go for it--it's a fun book written in a clever, wry style, with a fast-moving plot and entertaining characters.

Note: No, that's not actually Dobby on the front cover. I know it looks just like him. I mentioned the shameless Potter-ness, didn't I?

Note #2: While absolutely nothing about this story hints at the author's religious views, Googling Mr. Skye will turn up a bunch of aggressive Church of the Latter-Day Saints promotional information. If you'd prefer to avoid that sort of thing, consider yourself warned.

Aftertaste:
None, as long as you're not J.K. Rowling and litigation-minded.

Availability:
I'd suggest online bookstores, but surprising stuff turns up at Target.
