Mike Carey

Mike Carey is the author of a four-issue comic book miniseries from Vertigo entitled My Faith in Frankie. While this book won’t be the title that converts the English-speaking world into comic book readers, it was pretty damn funny. My Faith in Frankie is the story of an adorable young woman (Frankie) with a devoted best friend and her own personal God (the sweet and extremely attractive Jeriven, God of Heart’s Fires) to look after her. Frankie skips through life, with divine intervention saving her from everything from tooth decay to the SATs. Everything is going swimmingly, in fact, until Frankie developes a passionate interest in boys, and Jeriven discovers an equally passionate interest in in protecting her from them....

Aftertaste:
The cute little trade paperback edition has a lovely cover price but is accordingly printed in inexpensive black-and-white. It's fine, but it's not as pretty as this series deserves.
